Peter Charles Carey Paintings & Drawings Photographs Design About Contact
Peter Carey was born in 1967 in Ann Arbor, MI. After studying fine art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he moved to New York and concentrated on photography at Parsons School of Design, where he graduated in 1992. Peter’s professional life has been spent primarily in the field of architecture, where he has become an expert in finding creative solutions for a range of interior design projects.

His current paintings and drawings synthesize a wide spectrum of professional and creative experience; each piece brings a host of themes, ideas and approaches together to a focused expression that frames line, form and pattern in a way that is mindful of the past but anticipatory of the future. Utilizing a meditative process of ‘repeat, integrate, outline’, free associations between topography motifs, structures within the human body, calligraphy, tribal tattoos, and cosmological images become apparent in the work. Each drawn line creates an ambiguous scale that can shift from micro to macro in an instant, while the surrounding space becomes an image that dissolves into form, surface and depth.

Peter is currently seeking gallery representation and will welcome any inquiries to show, sell or commission his artwork.
